LGBT SUMMIT
BASIC INFO
Who: The event is aimed at high school-age youth, but all youth are welcome. Parents, teachers, GSA Advisors, counselors, school staff, and all adults are also invited but some workshops may be closed to adults. Hosted by the GSA Alliance of Southeast MI, the youth board of GLSEN (The Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network) Southeast MI.
What: An LGBT Interpersonal Issues Summit aimed at increasing awareness regarding interpersonal relationships, Power/Privilege and Oppression, creative expression, and more. The Summit consists of large group icebreakers, 3 educational/advocacy workshops which participants can select based on their interests, lunch, t-shirt and wristband giveaways, extensive networking opportunities, and an expansive collection of resources. The Summit occurs semi-annually, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.
When: Saturday, May 12, 10 AM-5 PM. Registration will begin at 9:00 AM. Participants should arrive before 10 AM if possible but participants are welcome to show up late or leave early if needed.
Where: Ernest Seaholm High School, 2436 West Lincoln, Birmingham, MI 48009. The crossroads are Lincoln and Cranbrook (Evergreen) Road.
Other Info: Participants should show up to register between 9:00 AM-10 AM. Lunch, snacks and wristbands will be provided to all participants. Transportation options are available, if you need assistance, indicate your needs in the contact form in the "Questions/Comments" field on the contact form at bottom of this page. The event is free but donations are welcome. The event will be supervised by adults. Please contact us if you need travel funds to bring students from your school.
Parking Information: Please park in the lot that is North of the school. You enter it off of Cranbrook Road. Enter the school through the Pool Entrance. There will be a Registration Table there.

WORKSHOP/FACILITATOR INFORMATION
During each of the 3 workshop sessions, participants will attend a workshop from one of 4 tracks, which are "Healthy Relationships", "Health", "This Is My Story", and "We've Got Issues". Each of these tracks address different general topics and vastly different needs and interests. Participants don't have to go to workshops from the same track the entire time. Adults are welcome to attend any workshop that is indicated as "open to adults". Participants will sign up for the workshops they are interested in during registration.
